A MID-CENTURY OASIS WITH ITS HEART IN THE KITCHEN

We worked with Board & Vellum on this turn of the century shingle-style Victorian to create a unique, hybrid design concept that preserved the old and harkened in the new. This unique architectural transition is not hidden, but instead showcased like a historical art gallery. One of the major highlights of the project was the geotechnical and structural rework of the foundation, which allowed for the addition of a full basement of living and work space. This transformation not only added functional space to the home but also enhanced its overall aesthetic appeal.

Despite the classic lines of the front face, the back of the home now boasts a clean-lined minimalistic addition that transports visitors through time as they move through the space. 

We expanded onto the back of the structure with a modern and chic open concept kitchen and wrap-around back deck, adding structural, mechanical, and aesthetic updates throughout the home. The juxtaposition of historical millwork and windows with modern design elements creates a truly unique and captivating experience for anyone who enters the home.

Overall, this project was a true testament to the skill and creativity of our team at Angell. Working closely with Board & Vellum, we were able to bring the customer’s distinctive vision to life and create a space that speaks to the old and new in a way that is both functional and visually striking. The transformation of this turn of the century Victorian into a modern architectural gem is a testament to the power of thoughtful design and expert craftsmanship.
